Fraudsters are targeting financial firms: Here's how Insignis keeps our clients safe

August 20, 2026

We're all becoming more digitally connected as we go about our day-to-day activities. While it helps us live faster and more connected lives, the convenience cuts both ways. In 2025, fraudsters targeted UK bank customers at a rate of eight people every minute, taking almost £2,500 between them, according to UK Finance's 2026 Annual Fraud Report. Financial platforms are firmly in criminals' sights, and their methods are evolving fast.

For any platform entrusted with money, whether personal or business savings, stringent cybersecurity is non-negotiable. At Insignis, we keep you safe through robust protocols that protect your information and prevent fraud. In this blog, we explain how it works in practice.

Insignis cybersecurity protocols

Fraudsters increasingly don't need to breach a company's systems to succeed. They just need to convince one person to move money themselves, known as Authorised Push Payment (APP) fraud. Most APP fraud cases now originate online (66%) or through telecommunications (17%, accounting for 28% of losses), exploiting the same digital convenience that makes modern banking possible. It's why our approach to security focuses on robust cybersecurity protocols that work in the background to keep your personal information safe and to prevent fraud.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

A stolen password is often all a fraudster needs. 2FA means it is not enough on its own.

When you access your Insignis account, via our secure website, we use 2FA to protect your account. This requires you to enter a one-time passcode (OTP) in addition to your password when you access your account or transact. This additional verification step reduces the risk of unauthorised access, even where a password has already been compromised.

Dual authorisation

Business and Charity accounts are attractive targets precisely because a single login, or a single convincing phone call, can move a significant sum of money.

Insignis offers dual authorisation for Business and Charity accounts to enhance transaction security. This means that all transactions require approval from two authorised users before being processed. This feature provides an added level of control, ensuring that financial decisions are reviewed and authorised by multiple parties, so no single compromised account or individual can move funds alone.

UK-based Client Services

Impersonation fraud, where a criminal poses as a bank or trusted organisation to talk someone into moving money, is something you need to stay vigilant against.

Should you need to contact our Client Services team, they will check that they are talking to an authorised account holder before sharing any information. If there is any doubt that we are talking to the right individual, we will politely close the conversation.

There may be occasions when we will need to contact you directly by telephone and email. We understand this may make you cautious, particularly given the tactics used by fraudsters. With most scams now starting online or by phone, we will only call you to discuss your account as a follow up to a request you have already made, if we require further information to protect your account or if we have identified activity on your account that we need to check with you.

We will never send you a text message asking you to call us or ask you to confirm your full account details.

Recognising fraudulent tactics

Recognising a fraudster's tactics is one of the strongest defences you have. For example, Insignis will never:

You should hang up immediately if anyone contacts you claiming to be from Insignis and either:
